Out of the 16 million deaths under the age of 70 due to non-communicable diseases, 82% are in developing countries and 37% are caused by CVDs. The study was carried out in Soolamangalam village with the aim of identifying the prevalence of selected modifiable risk factors of cardio vascular diseases among the people over 18 years old and association between demographic variables and risk factors of CVD among adult population. Materials and Methods: The study included 400 people of Soolamangalam village and simple random sampling method was adopted and interview schedule was administered to collect data from them. Statistical tests were used to find out the association between the risk factors and CVD. Results: A total of 400 people were included in the study, of whom the females constituted 55% and males 45%. The risk of developing CVD due to their risk behaviours like smoking, alcohol, blood pressure, diet and obesity was moderate in 90% of the particpants. Conclusion: It is evident from the study that 90% had a moderate risk of developing CVD due to their life style. However, some proactive strategies need to be devised to reduce their risk behaviours and lead a healthy life style.
