Monitoring of indicators of physical and socio-economic availability of medicines used for Parkinson’s disease treatment

Abstract
Aim. To monitor the indicators of physical and socio-economic availability of drugs used for Parkinson’s disease treatment. Results. To determine the physical availability of medicines used for Parkinson’s disease treatment, we conducted an analysis of the whole sale pharmaceutical market of Ukraine for 2014-2018. It was determined that in 2014, 46 trade names of medicines for Parkinson’s disease treatment were presented, taking into account release forms, and in 2018 there were 47 titles. It is proved that share of foreign-made drugs prevail over domestic drugs and make up to 89,13 % in 2014, and in 2018 – 76,6 %. To substantiate the socioeconomic availability of medicines, we analyzed the dynamics of the purchase price indexes for medicines, as well as the adequacy ratio of solvency relative to the average salary and average pension for 2014-2018. The choice of the average pension indicator to calculate the ratio of adequate solvency is due to the fact that average age of the onset of the Parkinson’s disease is 60 years or more. The analysis of the group index showed a general tendency of increasing purchasing prices for drugs used in Parkinson’s disease treatment. Average index of drug prices for 2014-2018. was 1,22. It was found that prices for medicines of foreign manufacture were characterized by more stable growth in comparison with domestic medicines. The analysis of adequacy ratio of solvency indicates that this indicator tended to decrease in the period of 2014-2018 by almost 45 % (Ca.s2014 – 9,29, Ca.s2018 – 5,08) for the employed population and 17 % (Ca.s2014 – 21.14, Ca.s2018 – 17,62) for pensioners. Conclusions. According to the results of the wholesale pharmaceutical market analysis, it was established that in 2015, 2016, 2017 there is a negative tendency towards a decrease in the number of medicines in comparison with 2014. It has been proved that the share of domestic pharmaceutical production is rather low in 2014 and was 10,87 %, and in 2018 – 23,40 %. Analysis of the drug price index showed that during 2014-2018 there was a tendency of average purchasing prices growth for drugs. It is proved that during 2013-2018 there was a positive trend towards a decrease in the adequacy ratio of solvency, which increases the availability of medicines used for Parkinson’s disease treatment.
