MONITORING OF QUALITY INDICATORS FOR WELL WATERS OF STRYI DISTRICT

Abstract
Introduction. The decreasing of drinking water quality causes an increase in the disease incidence rate of the population from the use of low-quality water, which leads to a decrease in the capacity for work, a reduction in the life expectancy, and leads to material and financial losses in the state. Drinking water that does not meet hygienic and hygienic requirements, is the threat of massive diseases of the population, exacerbates the social situation. According to the data obtained by hygienic-epidemic station in previous years in the Lviv region, about one thousand water samples from public wells and about 30% of investigated samples showed an increased level of bacterial contamination and up to 10% did not meet the requirements for physical and chemical indices. Last year, the share of drinking water samples that did not meet the hygienic norms for hygienic-chemical indices, which significantly exceeds the country's average indices - 12,9%, and in the Lviv region - 0,9%. Therefore, the analysis of the water quality of well water in Stryy districts of Lviv region is very relevant. Materials and methods. The article analyzes seasonal indicators of the quality for the well waters of some settlements in the Stryj district (Morshyn, villages Lysovychi, Dolishne, Dovhe, and Stankiv) The quality of the well water was determined using the following indicators: total microbial number, coli index; content of nitrates, nitrites, ammonium ions, phosphates; mineralization, pH. According to the research results, some indicators exceed the norms established for drinking water: coli index, the content of nitrates and ammonium ions. The research was conducted during 2016-2018 using standard methods. Results and discussion. In the villages Dolishne, Dovhe, and in the town Morshyn, the average annual coli index exceeds the norm by 3.3-8.2 times. Excess of MPC for nitrates was recorded only in the village Dolishne (55.5 mg/dm3) and in Morshyn (56.7 mg/dm3) in summer. It was found that the concentration of ammonium ions in the water of investigated territories varied within the limits of 1.7 - 6.9 mg/l and the average values exceeded the MPC (2.6 mg/l) in the villages Lysovychi, Stankiv, and Dovhe. In all the well waters of the studied settlements in the Stryj district, the average annual concentrations of nitrites and phosphates did not exceed the MPC; the mineralization of water did not exceed the limits permissible for drinking table waters - 1000 mg/l. Conclusions. The increased content of nitrogen compounds indicates a deterioration in the sanitary and ecological status of water sources. This increase in concentration is due to the flow of household sewage, sewage from food and chemical enterprises, nitrogen and organic fertilizers into the groundwater. The research was conducted within the framework of complex monitoring for the surface water quality in Lviv region.
