Monte Carlo Analysis of Longitudinal Behavior of Skew Bridge Abutments
Journal Title: International Journal of engineering Research and Applications - Year 2019, Vol 9, Issue 1
Abstract
This study focuses on the estimation of the longitudinal force reaction in skew bridge abutments with non-rotating walls through numerical and analytical approaches. To this end,Monte Carlo analysis is conducted to develop a formula for predicting the longitudinal force capacity of skew abutments based on an extensive matrix of verified high-fidelity three-dimensional continuum finite element models. Accurate prediction of this force reaction can be quite effective in better understanding the complete cyclic behavior of skew bridge abutments, which will consequently result in efficient analysis and design of such structures.

Basis for an effective climate change adaptation: Case small Mexican agriculture
Mexico is considered one of the world's most vulnerable countries to climate change effects. Its geographical location and climatic, orographic and hydrological conditions contribute considerably to this situation. The o...
Analysis and Improvement of the Steering Characteristics of an ATV
The main objective is to analyze the steering characteristics of an ATV (All Terrain vehicles) in order to improve the maneuverability of the vehicle. It is found that in our last year’s BAJA buggy the vehicle oversteerd...
Predicting the Nonlinear Material Behaviour under Monotonic and Cyclic loading of SA333 and SS3304 Steels
Nonlinearity naturally arises in a true, rigorous mathematical formulation of physical problems. One of the most common nonlinearity is the material nonlinearity where the stress-strain response behaves nonlinearly. The...
