MORPHOMETRIC STUDY OF PEDICLES OF DRIED ADULT HUMAN LUMBAR VERTEBRAE IN UDAIPUR ZONE
Journal Title: International Journal of Anatomy and Research - Year 2018, Vol 6, Issue 3
Abstract
Introduction: It has been suggested that reduced inter-pedicular distance is one of the cause of primary narrowing of the spinal canal may lead to low back pain.Transpedicular approaches are being widely used in many surgeries such as bone biopsy, bone grafting, Pedicle screw fixation, vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty. The morphometric data of lumbar vertebra from Udaipur district i.e. in southern Rajasthan is to the best of our knowledge, virtually unexplored so we under took this study. Aims and objectives: The present study aims at determining the morphometric norms of Pedicle of the lumbar vertebra in Udaipur zone measured in dried bone. In this study the following measurements on Pedicle of lumbar vertebra are taken i.e. pedicle height, pedicle width and Interpedicular distance. Materials and methods: The present study was done on the 110 dry adult human lumbar vertebrae from various medical colleges of Udaipur. The morphometrical data of the Pedicle of human lumbar vertebrae were measured and analysed. Digital vernier calliper was used to measure the morphometric data. Result and discussion: The pedicle height of Pedicle decreased from L1 to L5 except in L2 and width of Pedicle increased from L1 to L5. Interpedicular distanced gradually increased from L1 to L5.
TRANSVERSE CEREBELLAR DIAMETER-AN ULTRASONOGRAPHIC PARAMETER FOR ESTIMATION OF GESTATIONAL AGE AND GRADING OF FETAL CEREBELLAR GROWTH
Introduction: Several parameters are used for the estimation of gestational age by ultrasonography. Measurement and demonstration of fetal cerebellum is a new and unique parameter of fetal brain growth and also useful fo...
ANATOMICAL FEATURES OF BONES AND BONY CAVITIES OF THE OSTRICH SKULL (STRUTHIO CAMELUS)
Background: The morphology of ostrich skeleton was meager rather than fowl for which already a lot of literature is available. This work attempts to present different views of skull bones of ostrich. Materials and Method...
AN INFERIOR MESENTERIC ARTERY ARISING FROM THE LEFT COMMON ILIAC ARTERY
Although anatomical variations in abdominal vascular branching are a common phenomenon, alternations in IMA are rather rare. We report a variation found during a dissection of an embalmed male cadaver of Caucasian Hellen...
CLINICAL CORRELATION OF NUTRIENT FORAMEN OF DRY HUMAN ULNA BONES IN JAMMU REGION
Background: The nutrient foramen of Human ulna bone is on the anterior surface of shaft of ulna almost proximal to the mid point and is directed upwards. Nutrient foramen permits the passage of the branch of anterior int...
VARIATION IN LOBES AND FISSURES OF LUNG
Introduction: Lungs are the paired vital organs meant for respiration situated in the thoracic cavity on either side of the heart. The right lung is divided into supe-rior, middle & inferior lobes by oblique and horizont...
