MORPHOMETRIC STUDY OF PEDICLES OF DRIED ADULT HUMAN LUMBAR VERTEBRAE IN UDAIPUR ZONE
Journal Title: International Journal of Anatomy and Research - Year 2018, Vol 6, Issue 3
Abstract
Introduction: It has been suggested that reduced inter-pedicular distance is one of the cause of primary narrowing of the spinal canal may lead to low back pain.Transpedicular approaches are being widely used in many surgeries such as bone biopsy, bone grafting, Pedicle screw fixation, vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty. The morphometric data of lumbar vertebra from Udaipur district i.e. in southern Rajasthan is to the best of our knowledge, virtually unexplored so we under took this study. Aims and objectives: The present study aims at determining the morphometric norms of Pedicle of the lumbar vertebra in Udaipur zone measured in dried bone. In this study the following measurements on Pedicle of lumbar vertebra are taken i.e. pedicle height, pedicle width and Interpedicular distance. Materials and methods: The present study was done on the 110 dry adult human lumbar vertebrae from various medical colleges of Udaipur. The morphometrical data of the Pedicle of human lumbar vertebrae were measured and analysed. Digital vernier calliper was used to measure the morphometric data. Result and discussion: The pedicle height of Pedicle decreased from L1 to L5 except in L2 and width of Pedicle increased from L1 to L5. Interpedicular distanced gradually increased from L1 to L5.
MORPHOGENESIS OF THE PROSTATE GLAND IN HUMAN FOETUSES
Background: To study the morphogenesis of the prostate gland in human foetuses. ‘Prostates’ is a Greek word which literally means “one who stands before”, protector, guardian. It is important from a clinical point of vie...
MORPHOMETRIC EVALUATION OF GLENOID CAVITY AND OTHER DIMENSIONS OF DRY HUMAN SCAPULAE
Introduction: The scapula (shoulder blade) is a triangular flat bone that lies on the posterolateral aspect of the thorax. The scapula bears various angles namely superior, inferior, lateral, medial, acromial and coracoi...
A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF NUMBER AND POSITION OF PAPILLARY MUSCLES AND CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE
Introduction: Papillary muscles are the conical muscle masses project into the cavity of ventricle and are inserted into the valve cusps by chordae tendinae. They prevent the cusps from being forced back into the atrium...
BLOCK VERTEBRAE OF 5TH LUMBAR AND 1ST SACRAL VERTEBRA
Introduction: Vertebral column is centrally placed structure in the body providing stability, posture, motility and transmission of weight of the body. Disruption during development leads to congenital abnormalities. Fus...
A MORPHOLOGICAL STUDY OF A RARE VARIANT OF GANTZER’S MUSCLE
Background: Flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) is a deep flexor of forearm. The accessory heads of flexor pollicis longus(FPLah) and flexor digitorum profundus(FDPah) are named after Gantzer who described the same in 1831....
