Moscow – Third Rome as Source of Anti-Western Russian Geopolitics
Journal Title: Historia i Polityka - Year 2018, Vol 0, Issue 24
Abstract
Moscow as the Third Rome is the basis of Russian thinking about the state and the Russian nation and also Russian geopolitics. It is a solid foundation of anti-Western tendency in Russian geopolitics. The belief about Russia’s providential mission is a tool of differentiation between the two types of civilizations and cultures – the “rotting” western world and the Russian world, which manifests as a cradle of traditional, conservative values that individualistic, materialistic Western civilisation has rejected.
