Abstract
The article focuses on the analysis of the main aspects of the theory of the language situation in the works of native and foreign linguists, the analysis of the degree of functioning and spreading of the Ukrainian language in Transnistria has been made, the characteristic features of modern linguistic situation have been determined in the republic.
