Multipotent Hepatoprotector Larnamin in Clinical Practice

Abstract

The article presents a literature review on the physiological mechanisms of action and evidence base of L-ornithine-L-aspartate — ​an active substance of the drug Larnamin. Multifaceted properties of the drug are shown: detoxification, anabolic, hepatoprotective, vasodilating ones, the ability to stimulate the production of growth hormone and insulin. The results of clinical studies proving the effectiveness of L-ornithine-L-aspartate in hepatic encephalopathy, chronic diffuse liver diseases, including alcoholic and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, are described. The drug is also effective in acute pancreatitis, alcoholic intoxication. Drug tolerance is satisfactory, the likelihood and severity of side effects are minimal.
