Abstract
The article analyzes the role of the Bolsheviks in the establishment of Soviet power in the national outskirts of the Russian Empire – the Komi region. First shown the causes of the victory of the Bolsheviks represented a political struggle and especially the establishment here of the dictatorship of the proletariat. Based on the newly introduced in the scientific use of historical sources shows the difficulty of establishing Soviet power in the national regions, formation of political parties, the emergence of national consciousness. The main features of the struggle for power in the Komi region were: a complete rejection of all previous forms of government, the implementation of a violent, armed takeover followed by an attempt to give it legitimacy, participation in the formation of representative institutions of governance by a small part of the population, the removal of politically objectionable representatives.
