Nanostructured zirconia layers as thermal barrier coatings
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2011, Vol 3, Issue 3
Abstract
The coatings obtained by thermal spray are used both as antioxidant and connection materials (e.g. MCrAlY type alloys) as well as thermal barrier coatings (e.g. partially stabilized zirconia oxide with yttria oxide). This paper studies the characteristics of the coatings obtained with nanostructured powders by thermal spraying and air plasma jet metallization. Testing of coatings is done against the most disturbing factor, thermal shock. Structural changes occurring after thermal shock tests are highlighted by investigations of optical and electronic microscopy. The results obtained after quick thermal shock show a good morphological and surface behavior of the developed coatings.

Helicopter Roll-Axis Instabilities induced by Pilot Cyclic Control: A Physical Explanation
The main objective of this paper is to give a basic understanding of the mechanisms through which pilot cyclic inputs in lateral cyclic interacts with high-order rotor dynamics destabilizing the helicopter roll motion. T...
Modal analysis of a small vertical axis wind turbine (Type DARRIEUS)
This paper reports a brief study on free vibration analysis for determining parameters such as natural frequencies and mode shapes for vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT) for an urban application. This study is focused on...
A new approximation of the dispersion relations occurring in the sound-attenuation problem of turbofan aircraft engines
The dispersion relations, appearing in the analysis of the stability of a gas flow in a straight acoustically-lined duct with respect to perturbations produced by a time harmonic source, beside the wave number and comple...
Method of formalizing the layout of the internal compartments of aircraft
The mathematical formulation of the aircraft’s internal layout problem is described as an optimization problem, with an indication of its objective function, constraints, and performance criteria. The approach (receptor...
Review of the Most Important Design Optimization Technique of Composite Wing
The scope of wing optimization is to design a structure that meets all the airworthiness demands while minimizing its weight. This paper introduces a review for the most important optimization design tools of composite w...
