National Resistance in Azerbaijan (1917-1930)

Abstract
This research examines the effects of the political changes made during the Lenin-Stalin era on Azerbaijani Turks and their history. During the last years of Tsarist Russia and the establishment of the Soviet Union, some changes have taken place in the social, political and economic life of the Azerbaijani Turks. Thus, this essay aims to evaluate the struggle of the Azerbaijani Turks against these movements. Thus, the establishment of the Soviet Union brought with it serious competition in Azerbaijan as it started a cold war between Musavats and the Bolsheviks. Especially the senior managers who had worked in the period of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic were taken back by the managers who were appointed to Baku by Stalin, and these appointed administrators watched over the former executives, a situation which was considered a big political problem. Stalin, who took power over Lenin's death in 1924, headed east with the idea of Panslavism. Stalin's repressive policies in Azerbaijan resulted in the exile or execution of hundreds of indigenous peoples. With the new understanding of history emerging in the Soviet Union and independence period in Azerbaijan, new discussion platforms shaped by new ideas have begun to be created. In this work, the political developments in Azerbaijan and the Soviet Union have been revealed in the light of articles, books, and documents in Azerbaijan State Archives.
