Nazwy kobiet utworzone od imienia męża w gwarze mieszkańców gminy Czyże w powiecie hajnowskim

Abstract
This article is an attempt to describe women’s conjugal names used by speakers of the Ukrainian dialect residing in the Czyże commune (Hajnówka county, Podlaskie Voivodeship). The lexical corpus analyzed constitutes an interesting and diverse group of anthroponomic formations, which have not been thoroughly examined so far. The author concentrates on the names containing the derivational formants -ča, -iÍa/-yÍa, -ka and -anka, as well as andronyms with the suffixes -ova and -ina/-yna. These formations are a continuation of the feminative forms used in the area in question in the past, as evidenced by the records in the eighteenth-century parish of the Uniate Church in Czyże. The aim of the study was to determine which women’s conjugal names function today in the daily oral communication of the inhabitants of the Czyże commune. The source base of the article consists of anthroponyms collected by the author in the years 2013–2018 during direct conversations with villagers born between 1923 and 1957. A total of 99 personal names were collected, most of them with the formant -ča (50 forms) and -iÍa /-yÍa (29 forms). The analysis of the material collected showed that the erstwhile popular conjugal names using the formants -ča, -iÍa/-yÍa, -ka and -anka had a stylistically neutral character. Nowadays, these formations are only used for women from the oldest generation, most often deceased. Double-barrelled names consisting of the woman’s first name and that of the husband with the suffix -ova, or sometimes -ina/-yna, are still popular in the Czyże commune.
