3D-mixed-mode-loading: material characteristic values and criteria’s validity
Journal Title: Frattura ed Integrità Strutturale - Year 2016, Vol 10, Issue 37
Abstract
In many structures and components cracks, which are exposed to a 3D-mixed-mode-loading, occur due to multiaxial loading situation. A reliable evaluation of those components requires fracture mechanical criteria validated by experimental investigations. Within this article 3D-mixed-mode criteria for static as well as cyclic loadings will be presented. Experiments for pure mode I-loading, pure mode II-loading, pure mode IIIloading and 2D- as well as 3D-mixed-mode-loading combinations are performed using specially developed specimens and loading devices. By comparing the experimental results with criteria a widely validity of criteria and a generally conservative behaviour are revealed.

Microstructural study of multiaxial low cycle fatigue
This paper discusses the relationship between the stress response and the microstructure under tension-torsion multiaxial proportional and nonproportional loadings. Firstly, this paper discusses the material depe...
Finite element modeling and experimental studies on mixed mode-I/III fracture specimens
In this study, finite element modeling and experimental studies on a mode-I/III specimen similar to the compact tension specimen are presented. By using bolts, the specimen is attached to two loading apparatus&nbs...
Field Load Acquisition and variable amplitude fatigue testing on maxi-scooter motorcycles
Aim of the present work was the instrumentation of a maxi scooter for the field collection of service loads acting on the scooter main components such as frame, fork, handlebar, rear frame and suspension. Service...
Fatigue failure of welded connections at orthotropic bridges
Orthotropic decks were applied to the long span bridges after World War II due to several advantages, such as light weight, high strength, few deck joints, durability, rapid construction, life-cycle economy. The fatigue...
