A data fusion based approach for damagedetection in linear systems
Journal Title: Frattura ed Integrità Strutturale - Year 2014, Vol 8, Issue 29
Abstract
The aim of the present paper is to propose innovative approaches able to improve the capability ofclassical damage indicators in detecting the damage position in linear systems. In particular, starting fromclassical indicators based on the change of the flexibility matrix and on the change of the modal strain energy, the proposed approaches consider two data fusion procedures both based on the Dempster-Shafer theory.Numerical applications are reported in the paper in order to assess the reliability of the proposed approachesconsidering different damage scenarios, different sets of modes of vibration and the presence of errors affectingthe accounted modes of vibrations.

Damage evolution in freeze cast metal/ceramic composites exhibiting lamellar microstructures
The damage evolution in a single domain aluminium/alumina freeze-cast composite has been examined using 3D X-ray computed tomography (CT). A single domain was extracted and loaded incrementally at an orientation...
