A META ANALYSIS ON ASSESSMENT OF STUDENTS ACHIEVEMENT AT PRIMARY LEVEL IN PAKISTAN

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyse the methodology and results of previous researches (1990-2010) on assessment of students’ achievement at primary level in Pakistan. Literature review coveredwith 40 researches articles, abstracts, manuals, booklets, books accessed electronically or printedmaterials were collected for reading purpose. Of these 19 studies were finally selected for meta-analysison the basis of key assessment of students’ performance through literature review. These include 17Qualitative and 2 Quantitative studies. Results revealed that in most of the objectives of the study ofprimary education were not fully achieved. There were a few studies in which methodology was foundnot congruent with the nature or type of the study. The poor performance of the students may be linkedwith environmental and resource situations. The procedure of implementation of the policies and plansfor primary education remained weak in Pakistan.
