Journal Title: Analele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Alexandru Ioan Cuza din Iasi, Serie noua, Sectiunea II a. Biologie vegetala - Year 2007, Vol 53, Issue 0
Abstract
This paper presents a list of rare and endemic/near endemic plant species from the “Cheile Şugăului-Munticelu” Natural Reserve „Cheile Şugăului-Munticelu (Neamţ County). Among those plants, there is one - Astragalus pseudopurpureus – which can be found only here. Also, there are other species listed under the Habitat Directive 92/43/EEC, namely: Cypripedium calceolus, Iris aphylla ssp. hungarica, Arnica montana, and Campanula serrata. But this paper is focusing on natural habitat 7220* – Petrifying springs with tufa formation (Cratoneurion); this habitat is a pretty rare one in Romania, being under threat in that natural reserve, because of an local investor, which already has destroyed a cave and has collected the waters of a spring, for industrial use. That spring has played an important role in the existence of the natural habitat 7220*. The already protected area (the „Cheile Şugăului-Munticelu” Natural Reserve) is a pSCI, being a part of the pan-European Network Natura 2000 from Romania.
