ARTIFICIAL LAKES IN THE INFERIOR HYDROGRAPHIC BASIN OF BUZĂU RIVER
Journal Title: The Annals of Valahia University of Târgoviste, Geographical Series - Year 2004, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
The hydrographic basin of Buzău River belongs to the hydrographic basin of Siret River, occupying its south-western part, on a surface of 12.9%, which makes it one of its biggest tributaries. On the surface of this hydrographic basin there are dams, which from a genetic point of view belong both to the natural and to the artificial category. In the inferior basin of Buzău River, besides natural lakes, in the category of which one can find especially river lagoons, there is an impressive number of artificial lakes that appeared due to man’s intervention, for household purposes, there where the physico-geographical conditions are less favorable to the natural creation of lakes.
