CONFLICT MANAGEMENT SKILLS OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS IN STATE UNIVERSITIES OF EASTERN VISAYAS

Abstract
The study assessed the conflict management among identified state universities in Region VIII during school year 2014 – 2015. A total of 130 administrators and 254 teachers from randomly sampled state Universities in Region VIII served as respondents. Most of the administrator – respondents were females, married, with a doctorate degree, have a salary range of 20 – 29k, designated as director/ manager, with 1 – 3 dependents and had been in the service for quite a long time; while the teacher respondents are females, married, with master’s degree, receiving a low salary, with an academic rank of instructor, having 1 – 3 dependents and have been in the teaching service for quite a long time. There was a high level of skills of school administrators in managing conflicts between administrators and teacher, teacher and teacher, teacher and student as well as student and student as revealed by the teacher – respondents. The teachers perceived that the degree of teamwork among teachers and administrators was high. There was a significant positive relationship between the management skills and the degree of teamwork among teachers and administrators.
