Corporate Governance in Banks — Qui Bono?
Journal Title: Zarządzanie i Finanse - Year 2013, Vol 11, Issue 4
Abstract
The article presents diversity of systems and models of corporate governance. The focus is on the question of who is the beneficiary of these mechanisms — the shareholder value and stakeholder value concepts are addressed. It has been stressed that it would be desirable to broaden the view of company responsibility, and in case of banks it is necessary to include their accountability broader stakeholder groups. The empirical part of the paper presents the results of the survey about the goals and stakeholders identified by the Polish banks. Determining them might be the starting point for assessing the effectiveness of corporate governance in individual banks.
