FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF IMMEDIATE RELEASE TABLETS OF DILTIAZEM
Journal Title: Asian J of Pharm Sci & Tech - Year 2015, Vol 5, Issue 4
Abstract
ABSTRACT Diltiazem is a beta- or calcium channel- blockers .It binds to a site on the extracellular aspect of the α-subunit of the Na+ /K+ ATPase pump in the membranes of heart cells (myocytes) and decreases its function). The aim is to formulate various trail batch of immediate release tablet of Diltiazem two different dosage (0.25mg &0.125mg) using corn starch as Superdisintegrant in different trail batches by wet granulation method. The drug-excipients interaction was investigated by UVspectrophotometer. The tablets of Diltiazem were evaluated for various pre and post compression parameters like angle of repose, compressibility index, hausner’s ratio, tablet hardness, friability and in vitro disintegration and dissolution. Their results were found satisfactory and suggest that maximum in vitro dissolution profile of fourth approach formula were satisfactory and all the results for pre and post compression parameters found to be very near to innovator drug data. Key words: Diltiazem, Immediate release tablet, Superdisintegrants, Corn starch.
