Germination test of Treculia africana Decne
Journal Title: Scientia Agriculturae - Year 2016, Vol 15, Issue 3
Abstract
To assure a fast propagation of Treculia africana in the hinterland of Kinshasa, considering the role that this forest plant can play in the restoration of the plant cover and the struggle against poverty, a set of germination test has been achieved giving the following results: 0%, sowing of seeds refrigerated; 100%, direct sowing in sandy mixed soil or no to the pulp of the fruit; 71%, sowing of the complete fruit with its seeds and calm thimble under shadiness for a natural decomposition; 96%, in vitro sowing to light and 98% to the obscurity; 60%, immersion of the seeds in water. The studied parameters of growth in 72 days gave 11 cm as average for the size of the plants, 6 for the number of leaves and 4, 2 mm as diameter to the collar.
