Green Supply Chain Management: A Hierarchical Framework for Barriers

Journal Title: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING TRENDS AND TECHNOLOGY - Year 2013, Vol 4, Issue 5

Abstract

The research paper presents a hierarchical sustainable framework for evaluating the barriers to the implementation of the green supply chain management (GSCM) in an organization. A total of 14 barriers to the implementation to the GSCM are identified through extensive literature review and expert opinion to academics professionals. The nature of the identified barriers is complex and interdependent; an Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) technique is applied to develop a structural model. Driving and dependence power analysis (DDPA) is used to classify and identify critical barriers. An efficient evaluation technique developed by the framework can be used in decision making policies by policy makers and stakeholders of the organization which can identify and prioritize the critical barriers important for adoption of GSCM in the organization.
