Henry Spitzmuller - Un acteur des relations franco-roumaines (Juin 1940-Août 1944)

Abstract

  L’article analyse l’activité du diplomate français Henry Spitzmuller, représentant du Gouvernement de Vichy à Bucarest, qui décida de collaborer aussi avec la France Libre. On s’y proposa de comprendre l’attitude de ce diplomate de Vichy devant la dissidence qui a choisi d’adopter le « double jeu », c’est-à-dire de continuer à servir le régime de Vichy, mais aussi de prendre contact avec la France Libre. L’évolution de « Spitzmuller », « Spitz » ou «dr. Goudéa », premier secrétaire de la Légation de France à Bucarest, sera analysée dans le cadre des étapes établies par David Bobin dans un article de 2008, en essayant de prouver qu’elle ne représente pas un cas isolé. Notre analyse s’inscrit donc, dans le débat qui concerne l’apprentissage des difficultés auxquelles se heurta le corps diplomatique français pendant la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale.
