Influence of the European Union Funds on the Investment Potential of Local Government Entities in Poland

Abstract
The paper presents research concerning influence of the absorption of the EU funds on regional differences in the investment potential of local governments entities in Poland. Based on statistical data from the years 2007–2011 were analyzed investment potential on a regional basis, then the size of the EU investment funds per capita was set, and their share in the structure of investment expenditure was analyzed as well. In the final part of the study were analyzed changes in diversity of the investment potential of regions. The results indicate that the absorption of the EU funds has led to a reduction in the differences in the level of investment potential of Polish regions.
