Spherical particles formation under biaxial cyclic loading due to mesotunneling effect
Journal Title: Frattura ed Integrità Strutturale - Year 2015, Vol 9, Issue 33
Abstract
Fatigue fracture surfaces of Al-based alloys with fatigue striations pattern and such wear debris pattern as spherical particles were investigated fractographically, on the bases of the OG’e spectroscopic analysis. The sequence of events during fatigue crack edges opening was discovered when the elliptical or spherical shapes of wear debris build up on the fracture surface in crosspieces between mesotunnels under mode III of mode I fatigue crack opening because of volume rotation. The cause of black colour of places with fretting patterns on the fracture surfaces of Al-based alloys is discussed.

Development of an engineering methodology for non-linear fracture analysis of impact-damaged pressurized spacecraft structures
Motivated by the dramatic worsening and uncertainty of orbital debris situation, the present paper is focused on the structural integrity of the spacecraft pressurized modules/pressure vessels. The objective is to...
Evaluation of the increased load bearing capacity of steel beams strengthened with pre-stressed FRP laminates
We analyse the problem of a simply supported steel beam subjected to uniformly distributed load, strengthened with a pre-stressed fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) laminate. We assume that the laminate is first put i...
Implementation of a damage model in a finite element program for computation of structures under dynamic loading
This work is a numerical simulation of nonlinear problems of the damage process and fracture of quasi-brittle materials especially concrete. In this study, we model the macroscopic behavior of concrete material,...
Structural transitions in a NiTi alloy: a multistage loading-unload cycle
NiTi shape memory alloys (SMAs) are increasingly used in many engineering and medical applications, because they combine special functional properties, such as shape memory effect and pseudo-elasticity, with good mechani...
