Structural changes of gonadotropic lobe in relation with gonads development of silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) during maturation and ovulatio
Journal Title: Aquaculture, Aquarium, Conservation & Legislation - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2011, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
The paper has followed the evolution of gonatotropic lobe structure in relation with gonads development of silver carp, Hypophthalmichthys molitrix (Valenciennes, 1844), female breeders taken from the Great Basin Pond 1 – Vaslui county, Carja Fish Farm. Ten specimens were analyzed after completion of vitelogenesis process, in the both maturation period (April-May) and ovulation period (June). On the histological sections of the ovary, during oocyte’s maturation, secondary oocytes (stage VIIA), passing towards stage VIIBof maturation scale were distinguished as dominants while primary oocytes of young stages (III and IVA) were rare. During ovulation a large number of mature oocytes (stage VIIC) are present. The pituitary histological sections showed an increasing number and size of the cells during maturation process while a progressive degranulation and vacuolation is observed in most gonadotropic cells during spawning.

Club cells active role in epidermal regeneration after skin hyperplasia of koi carp Cyprinus carpi
Carp pox is a flat epidermal hyperplasia affecting common carp (Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758) and its ornamental form koi. The seasonal nature of this disease has been noted by many researchers. The aim of the study wa...
Effect of astaxanthin and cholesterol on growth, survival, and pigmentation of adult spiny lobster, Panulirus ornatus (Decapoda, Palinuridae).
Prior research on the spiny lobster Panulirus ornatus (Fabricius, 1798) determined that intermediate levels of cholesterol are important in diets, but astaxanthin may not be. Here we examined how the growth, survival and...
