The Attitude of some Nigerian Science, Technology, and Mathematics Teachers towards Assessment Practices
Journal Title: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MATHEMATICS TRENDS AND TECHNOLOGY - Year 2012, Vol 3, Issue 3
Abstract
The study investigated the attitudes of 305 Science, Technology and Mathematics (STM) teachers towards assessment practices in Nigeria. The sample was selected through stratified and random sampling techniques from 171 Senior Secondary Schools in three Local Government Areas of Lagos State and data were collected using survey a instrument. The instrument required the STM teachers to indicate the extent of their agreement or otherwise, on a five–point Likert attitude measuring scale, to a set of 26 statements made on various assessment practices. Frequency counts and percentages were used to obtain a global picture of teachers’ attitudes towards assessment practices, while the Chi-square (χ2 ) statistic was used to find out whether any significant gender or experience or professional training group differences existed in such attitudes. Findings showed that a higher proportional of the STM teachers seemed to display positive attitudes toward most of the assessment practices, while their attitudes toward some assessment practices tended to be either negative or neutral. More so, gender, teaching experience and professional training might be factors in STM teachers’ attitudes toward assessment practices.

The Banach Algebra Valued Functions of Bounded kφ- Variation of Two Variables in the Sense of Riesz–Korenblum
In this study we present the functions of bounded kφ-variation of two variables in the sense of Riesz-Korenblum. Moreover we proved that the class of two variables functions of bounded〖kφ〗^*-variation from σ into B is...
A Stochastic Frontier Model on Investigating Efficiency of Life Insurance Companies in India
The present paper attempts to investigate the efficiency of life insurance companies in India for the year 2011. An insurance company is said to be efficient if it produce maximum profit using minimum level of available...
The Relation between Language and Science, Technology, and Mathematics in Nigerian Schools
The study focuses on importance of language proficiency in the learning of science, technology and mathematics (STM) with attention given to the review of research studies on language and STM within the context o...
Geodesic and Exponential Maps on a Riemannian Manifold
Geodesic curve plays an important role in the development of Geometry. Our aim is to ensure local diffeomorphism on a Riemannian manifold which are obtained with the help of exponential mapping.
Tripled Fixed Point for Compatible mappings in Partially Ordered Fuzzy Metric Spaces
In this paper we prove a tripled coincidence point theorem for compatible mapping in fuzzy metric space. Our aim of this paper is to improve the result of "A. Roldan, J. M. Moreno, C. Roldan," Tripled fixed point t...
