The development of polish credit unions sector

Abstract
The paper analyzes the development of polish credit unions, including the scale of growth of these credit cooperatives compared to the increase of the banking sector in Poland and in selected sectors of the credit union in the world. To clarify the potential determinants of the significantly higher Polish credit union growth rate it was used the conception of the development stages of the credit union sectors. The Polish credit cooperatives are still in the transition stage of the credit unions, although introduced in 2012, the legislation significantly changed the way of their functioning.
