The effect of fipronil on some reproduction parameters of zebrafish (Danio rerio)
Journal Title: Aquaculture, Aquarium, Conservation & Legislation - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2013, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
Our research investigated the effects of fipronil on the reproduction dynamics and parameters of the zebrafish (Danio rerio). The experiment consisted in exposing ready to spawn fish and the spawn itself to three different concentrations of the test substance. The survival rate over the 21 days of exposure was 100% in both the three experimental groups and control group. However, the effects on reproductive parameters were evident even at the lowest concentration of fipronil applied while exposure to the highest dose of fipronil decreased the spawn obtained considerably and as well the fecundation and hatching percentages, compared to the control group.

Effect of vitamin E and highly unsaturated fatty acids supplementation on sperm quality of goldfish (Carassius auratus)
The effects of dietary vitamin E and highly unsaturated fatty acid (HUFA) supplementation on sperm quality was studied in goldfish (Carassius auratus (Linnaeus, 1758)), for one year. Fish fed experimental diets had no si...
Feasibility of the sustainable freshwater cage culture in Hungary and Romani
The intensive cage culture has an adverse effect on the quality of waters due to the high nutrient discharge of intensive fish culture. The combination of the intensive cage and the extensive aquaculture exploits the...
Correlation between chemical composition of seminal plasma and sperm motility characteristics of Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio).
The objectives of the present study were to determine the relationships between chemicals compositions of seminal plasma with sperm motility traits in Prussian carp, Carassius gibelio (Bloch, 1782). There were significan...
Preliminary studies of quality assessment of aquatic environments from Cluj suburban areas, based on some invertebrates bioindicators and chemical indicators
Systematic categories of invertebrates bioindicators correlated with some chemical parameters, were an effective way to characterize the quality of lotic (Somes River) and lentic (Lake Gilau) aquatic environment from Clu...
