The road infrastructure in the Province of Pomorskie

Abstract
Road investments belong to a wide spectrum of infrastructural investments and they have remained for years in the focus of attention of economists who often position these issues in the sphere of policy of prosperity regarding cities and regions. Road infrastructure influences the condition of the economy of the area where it is situated, determines its development and it is one of the more important factors creating contentment of local communities, because it enhances the life quality. The quality and quantity of infrastructure demonstrates the level of the region’s attractiveness. The efficient road infrastructure enhances the territorial accessibility of the area allowing the connection with the world. Hence, so important are the road investments which enhance the transportation accessibility of the region and stimulate its development. In this article I have presented the potential of the road infrastructure in the Province of Pomorskie in the context of the country in terms of the existing technical condition of the roads, the degree of transportation accessibility of the region, the strategy of balanced development and the barriers accompanying the development of the road infrastructure.
