Urinary Ascites in Newborn – A Rare Case Report

Abstract
Urinary Ascites in the newborn is a very rare condition.It is commonly secondary to posterior urethralvalves (PUV) which are membranous folds extendingfrom proximal urethra leading to obstruction to urineflow. Here we report a two days old male neonatedelivered full term in a hospital who presented withgross, uniform tense distension of abdomen with massivescrotal oedema, secondary to massive urinary ascitesas a result of rupture of renal calyces. In additionthere was a peri-renal urinoma.
