Necrosante periodontal disease: ulcerative gengivitis necrosante – case report
Journal Title: RSBO - Year 2004, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
This project proposes to discuss the clinical characteristics of GUN and its differentiated diagnostics with the PUN under the new optical classification of necrosante periodontal disease. Deals with a clinical case of an 18 year old female patient, with symptoms of limited gingival necroses at the gingival vestibule edge and the inter-dental papilla in the upper back region, with painful symptoms, gum bleeding when touched, dental calculus, large quantity of visible bacterial plaque and bad breath not significant, with the absence of linfoadenopathy, fever, pseudomembrane, and no discomfort. During the discussion of the patient’s medical history she reports that she is healthy, except for the possible development of emotional stress. The treatment plan is conservative (educational orientation on health, coronary scraping, and smoothing out of the root on the entire oral cavity, prophylaxis, topical chemical treatment, of the bacterial plaque with hydrogen peroxide H2O2 and oral hygiene monitoring utilizing the visible index of plaque – IPV – and the edge gum bleeding – ISG). Antibiotic therapy was not used. The treatment is weekly. At the end of this period there is a complete reestablishing of the periodontal health so, her return for preventive periodontal maintenance was scheduled, in 4 months. For this reason, this case agrees with the decision of the committee responsible for the elaboration of the new classification for the periodontal disease for it to be placed in the same category “necrosante periodontal disease”.
