Neonatal sepsis caused by Chryseobacterium meningosepticum.

Abstract

[i]Chrysobacterium meningosepticum[/i], also known as [i]Flavobacterium meningosepticum[/i], is a gram-negative microorganism widely distributed in nature, but it is rarely diagnosed as pathogenic. Its importance lies in being highly resistant to antimicrobials, so when it may infect premature newborns and immunocompromised adults, the mortality rate is high. This is a review about this microorganism, the importance of its diagnosis and surveillance of nosocomial infections, following a case in a neonatal intensive care unit in Lima, Peru.
