Neotectonic and morphotectonic characteristics of the Elmali basin and near vicinities
Journal Title: Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration - Year 2018, Vol 156, Issue
Abstract
Elmalı Basin, which consists of the Elmalı county and some villages, approximately 120 km far from Antalya city, is one of the recent depositional areas in the extensional neotectonic region of southwestern Turkey. The basin provides signifi cant data for the understanding of the geological evolution to record from the basement to recent depositional units. For this reason, these kinds of structures are used to determine the deformations phases for the evolutionary history of basin formation. In the content of the study, following applications have been investigated: (a) mapping of the area and structures in 1/25.000 scale, (b) information about deformation and tectonic activity along the basin margin faults, (c) the distribution of peak ground acceleration (PGA) in case of an earthquake with 6.5 magnitude and (d) morphometric analyzes of the basin to understand the tectonic uplift by using the digital elevation model. The new results combined with existing data imply that the Elmalı Basin has a number of deformation structures and active faults on both western and eastern sites of the basin. Depending on the morphometric indices, western side of the basin created higher uplift ratio compared with the eastern side of the basin.

This study includes dewatering of Kırka Borax Concentrator tailings by fl occulation with mono- and dual-fl occulants systems. Four polyacrylamide (PAM)-typed anionic and a poly diallyl-dimethylammonium chloride (PolyDAD...
PRODUCTION OF AN INSULATION MATERIAL FROM CARPET AND BORON WASTES
Buildings are large consumers of energy in all countries. In regions with harsh climatic conditions, a substantial share of energy goes to heat and cool buildings. This paper reports an investigation of the insulation ma...
THE GEOLOGICAL EVOLUTION OF SORGUN (YOZGAT)-YILDIZELİ (SİVAS) FORELAND BASIN, PETROGRAPHIC, GEOCHEMICAL ASPECTS AND GEOCHRONOLOGY OF VOLCANISM AFFECTING THE BASIN
Sorgun-Yıldızeli basin is an east-west trending asymmetric marginal foreland (peripheral foreland basin) formed as a result of the consumption of oceanic crust of the northern branch of Neotethys due to the collision of...
THE ILICA BRANCH OF THE SOUTHEASTERN ESKİŞEHİR FAULT ZONE: AN ACTIVE RIGHTLATERAL STRIKE-SLIP STRUCTURE IN CENTRAL ANATOLIA, TURKEY
The Eskişehir Fault Zone is one of the prominent neotectonic structures of Turkey. It separates the west Anatolian extensional province and the strike-slip induced northwest central Anatolian contractional area in the An...
Evaluation of soil geochemistry data of Canca Area (Gümüşhane, Turkey) by means of Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) and Kriging methods-preliminary fi ndings
The purpose of this study is to assess soil geochemical data of the Canca alteration area (Gümüşhane- Turkey) using statistical methods and investigate potential gold mineralizations of the area. With this pu...
