Neurofibrosarcoma of the median nerve of the hand: A case report
Journal Title: International Journal of Orthopaedics Sciences - Year 2018, Vol 4, Issue 3
Abstract
Neurofibrosarcoma is a rare malignant nerve sheath tumor with a lot of histological entities. In 70% of the cases, it is associated with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). We report the case of a 44-year-old female patient without neurofibromatosis, who was diagnosed with a neurofibrosarcoma of the median nerve of the left hand. The location in the hand of neurofibrosarcoma is exceptional because of its histological nature, especially outside the context of neurofibromatosis. The treatment involves surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy with a high risk of local recurrence. We provide through this case report a review of the literature and discuss the diagnosis, histological features, hypothetical etiologies, different therapeutic options and prognosis of this tumor.

Functional outcome of intertrochanteric fractures treated with dynamic hip screw and influence of tad over it - A prospective study
Fractures of proximal femur are amongst the most often encountered fractures by orthopedic surgeons. Many treatment techniques are described in literature, but internal fixation with Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS) is the gold s...
Outcome evaluation of dynamic condylar screw fixation for subtrochanteric femur fracture
Objective: To study the results of dynamic condylar screw DCS (Dynamic condylar screw) fixation for subtrochanteric femoral fractures. Materials and Methods: This study included 34 males and 6 female patients with age ra...
Management of comminuted fracture of radial head by radial head excision and anconeus arthroplasty
Background: Fracture and dislocation of radial head commonly occur secondary to trauma, usually from fall on the outstretched hand. These fractures are notorious for development of complications which include stiffness,...
Role of locking dynamic hip screw in management of inter-trochanteric fractures of femur in elderly patients
Introduction: Dynamic Hip screw is the implant of choice for most inter-trochanteric fractures of the femur. But, its most common mode of failure is for the lag screw to cut out of the femoral head, the second is for the...
Clinical profile of patients with unstable distal radius fracture
