NEW CONCEPTION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC EXCITATION BRUSHLESS SYNCHRONOUS MACHINE

Abstract
Increase of prices of neodymium magnets cause that machines with magnetoeletric excitation become expensive. Therefore it is appropriate to return to the electromagnetic conception of the brushless excitation of synchronous machines. In the machines of the power of about several kilowatts, exciter placed on common shaft with the main machine has dimension comparable with the size of this main machine. It causes the considerable increase of the unit dimensions.The possibility to apply as an exciter a rotary transformer working with high frequency was tested. Small dimensions are an important advantage of this transformer. A device prototype has been made. Testing results confirm the correctness of the system operation.
