NEW DATA ON TELLURIUM-BISMUTH MINERALIZATION FROM THE MYSZKÓW AND MYSŁÓW REGIONS IN THE CONTACT ZONE OF THE MAŁOPOLSKA BLOCK WITH THE UPPER SILESIA BLOCK

Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2015, Vol 465, Issue 465

Abstract

A number of tellurium and bismuth minerals and Bi, Ag, Pb, Cu and Ni sulphosalts have been identified as a result of work carried out on the polarizing microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and electron microprobe (EPMA) CAMECA SX-100. They are hosted by Ediacaran-Paleozoic rocks from the contact zone of the Małopolska Block with the Upper Silesia Block. These minerals havebeen found in three boreholes drilled in two prospective areas of Myszków (Pz-40 and 82-Ż boreholes) and Mysłów (25-WB borehole). The rare minerals are dominated by those with the Te-Bi-(Se + S) system. They are represented by minerals of the tetradymite Group (tetradimite, kawazulite and sulphotsumoite), Bi tellurides from the hedleyite-tellurobismuthite group (pilsenite, tsumoite and rucklidgeite) and bismuth sulphides (bismuthinite, nevskite and paraguanajuatite). In the Pz-40 borehole, Ag tellurides (hessite and empressite) and Ag, Bi sulphosalts (matildite) were also found. In addition, there are sulphosalts of Bi, Ag, Au, Pb, Se and Cu of variable compositions (e.g. paděraite, heyrovskýite, gustavite, aleksite, pavonite and others). The tellurium and bismuth mineralization occur together with the sulphosalts in close association with basic metal sulphides (galena, chalcopyrite, pyrite and sphalerite). They form a veinlet-impregnation mineralization type in the marginal zones around Variscan Mo-Cu(-W) porphyry mineralization related to the granitoid intrusions and theirdykes with porphyritic textures.
