Next Generation Ligand Binding Assays—Review of Emerging Real-Time Measurement Technologies
Journal Title: The AAPS Journal - Year 2014, Vol 16, Issue 5
Abstract
Over the last few years, numerous ligand binding assay technologies that utilize real-time measurement have been introduced; however, an assemblage and evaluation of these technologies has not previously been published. Herein, we describe six emerging real-time measurement technologies: Maverick™, MX96 SPR™, NanoDLSay™, AMMP®/ViBE®, SoPrano™, and two Lab-on-a-Chip (LoC) microfluidic devices. The development stage gate of these technologies ranges from pre-commercial to commercially available. Due to the novelty, the application and utility of some of the technologies regarding bioanalysis are likely to evolve but it is our hope that this review will provide insight into the direction the development of real-time measurement technologies is moving and the vision of those that are taking us there. Following the technology discussions, a comprehensive summary table is presented.

Sodium-coupled Monocarboxylate Transporters in Normal Tissues and in Cancer
SLC5A8 and SLC5A12 are sodium-coupled monocarboxylate transporters (SMCTs), the former being a high-affinity type and the latter a low-affinity type. Both transport a variety of monocarboxylates in a Na+-coupled manner....
A thermogravimetric analysis of non-polymeric pharmaceutical plasticizers: Kinetic analysis, method validation, and thermal stability evaluation
Four non-polymeric plasticizers, propylene glycol, diethyl phthalate, triacetin, and glycerin have been subjected to rising temperature thermogravimetry for kinetic analysis and vaporization-based thermal stability evalu...
A random sampling approach for robust estimation of tissue-to-plasma ratio from extremely sparse data
This study was performed to develop a new nonparametric approach for the estimation of robust tissue-to-plasma ratio from extremely sparsely sampled paired data (ie, one sample each from plasma and tissue per subject). T...
Targeted Delivery Systems for Oligonucleotide Therapeutics
Oligonucleotides including antisense oligonucleotides and siRNA are emerging as promising therapeutic agents against a variety of diseases. Effective delivery of these molecules is critical to their successful clinical a...
Antibody Drug Conjugates: Nonclinical Safety Considerations
Antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) are biopharmaceutical molecules consisting of a cytotoxic small molecule covalently linked to a targeted protein carrier via a stable cleavable or noncleavable linker. The process of conju...
