Non - Invasive Screening and Discrimination of Skin Images For Early Melanoma Detection

Abstract
This paper presents an experime ntal investigation of human skin. Human skin is a complex surface, wi th fine scale geome try that makes its appe arance di fficult to model. Also, the c ondi tions under which the skin surface is viewe d and illuminate d greatly af fect its appe ar ance and pr operties. It can be easily examine d with the eyes, howe ver , many particul ar as pects of the skin are better e valuate d by non - invasi ve methods. Then it describes a method that hel ps in de tection of suntanne d or prec ancer ous skin u sing gross - over all i mage segmentation. A skin cancer c an become hi ghly invasi ve and lethal if not treate d at the earliest possible stage and it ai ms to eliminate the nee d for a patient to unde r go bi opsy as a means of basic di agnosis for melanoma. Ge neral ly UV rays from the sun and other sources can damage skin cells causing cells to grow abnor mally. Melanoma is considere d as one such dangerous type of skin cancer. The main c ause of mel anoma is excessive e xposure to UV r adi ation reac hing the skin. When c om pare d to the nor mal skin the structure of abnor mal skin as an irregular outer e pi der mal l ayer as well as the inner der mal layer. Skin cancer can be de tecte d using ABCB rule wi th g ood diag nostic accur ac y as it is easy to de tect melanoma by AB CD par ameters. In this paper all types of skin can be teste d viz nor mal skin, suntanne d and pre - cancerous as well as it diagnosis the freckle(mole) and congenital ne vi(moles that appe ar at bir th).
