Non union patella with quadriceps contracture –A case report
Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Orthopedics - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
Introduction: Non union patella with quadriceps contracture is an unusual orthopaedic finding. Very few cases have recorded in the past have been recorded with similar findings. We record a case of 45 year male with non union patella with quadriceps contracture secondary to trauma. Case Report: A 45 year male with post traumatic non union patella with quadriceps contracture since 6months presented in the O.P.D. with complaints of defect in right knee with restriction of movements. The roentogram of right knee confirmed our findings. He underwent Quadricepsplasty with Tension Band Wiring for the patella followed by rigorous physiotherapy to achieve current level of knee flexion of 110 degrees. Conclusion: Thus we conclude that quadricepsplasty with tension band wiring is one the good modalities of treatment for a non union patella associated with quadriceps contracture.

Dynamic hip screw fixation of intertrochanteric fractures of femur: A comparison of outcome with and without using traction table
Intertrochanteric fracture of the femur is one of the common fractures in the elderly. Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS) fixation is the gold standard for treatment of intertrochanteric femoral fracture. Conventional methods of ac...
Plating of fibula in the management of distal metaphyseal tibial and fibular fractures - A prospective study
The tibia is exposed to frequent injury. Distal tibial metaphyseal fractures are often the result of high-energy trauma, usually associated with distal fibular fractures. The presence of the ankle joint allows rotatory d...
A comparison of graft union time in vascularized and avascular fibula for reconstruction in tumors of the appendicular skeleton
Background: Resection of the tumor by a limb-sparing procedure followed by restoration of soft tissues makes a successful limb salvage surgery. Fibulais usually used because of its advantages. The reconstruction with fib...
