Noninvasive evaluation of kinetics of gallbladder emptying and filling in thedog. A real-time ultrasonographic study.
Journal Title: Digestive Diseases and Sciences - Year 1994, Vol 39, Issue 12
Abstract
Patterns of gallbladder contraction induced by a meal or cerulein wereexamined by means of real-time ultrasonography in conscious dogs. The postprandial gallbladder emptyingwas characterized by two parameters of the power-exponential function: the gallbladder half emptyingtime T1/2 = 47.3 +/- 4.7 min and the curve shape parameter S = 0.866 +/- 0.036. Cerulein infused at stepwiseincreasing rates of 0.7, 2.2, 7.4, 22.2, and 66.5 pmol/kg/hr, administered each for 10 min, evoked agallbladder contraction to 87.4 +/- 3.8%, 66.7 +/- 2.4%, 44.5 +/- 1.5%, 25.9 +/- 2.1%, and 11.9 +/- 2.0%of the basal volume, respectively. The dependence of the gallbladder emptying on the dose of ceruleinwas described by the equation of linear regression y - 21.33 [ln(dose + 1)] + 95.81 (r = -0.963, P

Ex situ resection techniques and liver autotransplantation: last resource for otherwise unresectable malignancy.
Ex vivo liver resection and hepatic autotransplantation allow treatment of otherwise unresectable hepatobiliary malignancy and expand the role of liver surgery. Few series are reported in the English literature, and they...

Fulminant hepatic failure bridged to liver transplantation with a molecular adsorbent recirculating system: a single-center experience.
We herein describe the clinical course of a consecutive series of fulminant hepatic failure patients treated with a molecular adsorbent recirculating system (MARS), a cell-free albumin dialysis technique. From November 2...

Quality of life in functional dyspepsia.
Our purpose was to assess the quality of life of functional dyspepsia patients using the SF-36 generic scale and the Gastrointestinal Symptoms Rating Scale (GSRS). In all, 328 dyspeptic patients were included in a multic...
