NONSULFIDE ZINC DEPOSITS IN THE SILESIA-CRACOW DISTRICT
Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2010, Vol 439, Issue 439
Abstract
The discoveries of large nonsulfide zinc deposits and development of new technologies of zinc recovery resulted in renewed interest in the calamine ores worldwide. In Poland such ores have been exploited for centuries, but in 1990s the exploitation ceased, and probably they will have not economic importance in the future. The nonsulfide zinc ores are connected with supergene zone of sulphide ores. So called “red galmei” were commonly distributed on the outcrops of Ore-bearing Dolomite in the belt Trzebinia–Krzeszowice–Olkusz–Siewierz, near Tarnowskie Góry and in Bytom and Chrzanów troughs. Uncommon, white galmei were known mainly from Matylda mine near Chrzanów. The differences in mineralogical, chemical, stable isotope H–O compositions, crystallization temperatures were indicatedand their forms and the weathering time determined.

SEDIMENTOLOGICAL PROFILE OF THE PRE-CALLOVIAN (JURASSIC) SILICICLASTIC DEPOSITS IN THE CIANOWICE 2 BOREHOLE (NEAR KRAKÓW, POLAND)
In the Cianowice 2 borehole (located in the vicinity of Kraków), straight on the erosional unconformity on the top of metamorphosed Neo-Proterozoic (Ediacaran) shales and below carbonate deposits of Callovian, 20 meters...
THE ORE MINERALIZATION OCCURENCES IN THE ROCKS DRILLED BY THE TROJANOWICE 2 AND CIANOWICE 2 BOREHOLES
Ore mineralization in Ediacaran rocks from the Cianowice 2 borehole is very poor, but despite that, the mineral association is quite variable and represented by framboidal pyrite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, bornite, galena-cl...
RECORDS OF TERRESTRIAL STAGES OF GEOLOGICAL HISTORY OF THE ŚWIĘTOKRZYSKIE (HOLY CROSS) MOUNTAINS IN THE KARST FORMS AND THEIR SEDIMENTS – SELECTED EXAMPLES
The paper presents three examples of interpretations of geological events and paleogeographic and paleoenvironmental conditions made on the basis of studies of karst forms in Devonian carbonate rocks of the Świętokrzyski...
Comparison of groundwater recharge estimation based on integrated catchment modelling and inverse modelling
Groundwater flow modelling seems to be one of the most important tools of modern hydrogeology. It is used mainly to calculate spatial distribution of piezometric head in different scales of water flow. The infiltration r...
