Nonverbal and Subliminal Communications in Media Convergence: A Perspective
Journal Title: IOSR Journal of Humanities and Social Science - Year 2018, Vol 23, Issue 7
Abstract
The assumption of this paper is that media convergence has blurred the hitherto existing line between the mass media and interpersonal communications, and has nonverbal cues as its strength. Rather than the evolutionary technique, the paper adapted the descriptive approach in the discussion of facts. It, therefore, suggests a renewed attention to development scholarship in non-verbal and subliminal communications by reviewing its implication for effective communication, particularly in the prevailing era of media convergence. To achieve this, the paper reviewed some literature relating to communication, non-verbal and subliminal communications and media convergence, and buttressed the significance of nonverbal and subliminal communications in media convergence. Recommendations were made including the reinforcement of nonverbal and subliminal communications in digital media productions for greater communication service delivery.
