Novel Approach for Detection of Brain Tumor using Segmentation Techniques
Journal Title: International Journal of Computer Science & Engineering Technology - Year 2016, Vol 7, Issue 3
Abstract
Medical Image Processing is one of the standard method to detect the abnormal tissue. The key benefit of this field is reduction of manual work and early detection of the disease. Various types of medical imaging modalities such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computer Tomography Scan (CT scan) and X-Ray are present to capture the images. MRI is best suited technology for collecting the internal data of the human body for diagnosing. Medical imaging helps in acquiring, manipulating and achieving digital images. For image processing, Segmentation is widely used. In that way MRI- Magnetic Resonance Imaging has become practical means for the analysis of brain tumor images. In the paper we have presented some noise removal functions, various types of segmentation and morphological operations. Using MATLAB software, we have detected and extracted the tumor from MRI scan images.
