Numerical investigation of zeros of some dispersion relations appearing in sound attenuation problems in a circular lined duct
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2012, Vol 4, Issue 4
Abstract
In this paper the zeros of some dispersion relations apperaring in sound attenuation problems in circular lined ducts, carrying a gas flow, are investigated numerically. To find the values of frequencies for which the dispersion relations vanish is not easy at all. That is beacause these relations contain the solution of an initial value problem which depends on the unknown frequency and can not be found explicitly. In order to overcome this difficulty we consider approximate dispersion relations, obtained by replacing in the shear flow the solution of the initial value problem by its Taylor’s polynomial approximate. For numerical computations typical aeronautical examples are considered.

A numerical solution for the equation of the lifting surface in subsonic flow including tunnel effects
We employ the images method to establish the lifting surface equation including tunnel effects. We obtain a 2d hypersingular integral and we utilize Gauss-type quadrature formulas to discretize it. Numerical calculations...
Study on aerodynamic resistance to electric rail vehicles generated by the power supply
Improving the traction performance of the electric railway vehicles requires an analysis to reduce their aerodynamic resistance. These vehicles cannot be set in motion without an external power source, which demonstrates...

Unified formulation for URANS and LES in DxUNSp code
The aim of this work is to find a unified and efficient implementation of a LES turbulence model in an existing URANS CFD code, initially based on unsteady RANS equations with a k-ε turbulence model. This code has the ca...
