NUMERICAL METHOD FOR EVALUATING IMPACT OF AIR FILTER RESISTANCE ON INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE FILLING PROCESS

Abstract
The paper presents a numerical method for evaluating the impact of air filter resistance on the fluid mass aspirated during the suction stroke of the internal combustion engine. Main model assumptions, its description and capabilities were specified. Filters were rated based on the cylinder volumetric efficiency. Simulation results were presented as characteristics of in-cylinder mass after the intake valve closure and charge pressure progress.
