Review of: Elżbieta Umińska-Tytoń, The Polish of Nineteenth-Century Salons, Łódź 2011 The review discusses Elżbieta Umińska-Tytoń’s modern methodology applied to the nineteenth-century sophisticated sociolect version of Polish. The author of The Polish of Nineteenth Century Salons (Łódź 2011) focuses not only on the solely linguistic data (such as specific lexis, phraseology, or forms of address used to express honorification), but also on the cultural context of this sociolect (for example presenting the role of the nineteenth-century manuals of good manners or popular conversation topics in salons). The reviewed monograph may become an important point of reference for all nineteenth-century sociolect studies.
