Abstract
High quality chest compression is one of the key elements in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Current resuscitation guidelines determine the appropriate management of a cardiac arrest patient. The aim of the paper is to assess the attitudes and skills of medical staff in chest compression with the use of mechanical chest compression systems. 40 physicians participated in a prospective, randomized, crossover simulation study. The study participants performed a 2-minute cardiopulmonary resuscitation cycle with continuous chest compressions. The resuscitation was carried out with and without the use of a mechanical chest compression system. Moreover, the physicians knowledge and attitudes towards mechanical chest compression systems were analyzed.
