On a class of non-classical three-dimensional problems of the elasticity theory for earthquake prediction

Abstract

A three-dimensional non-classical boundary-value problem of the theory of elasticity for a layered packet of orthotropic plates, which has essential importance in seismology is solved. The case, when the measuring devices used to obtain the values of the displacement vector components are placed between the layers of the packet with the numbers (k-1) and (k), and separation occurs between the layers with the numbers (p-1) and (p) (p > k) is studied. An asymptotic solution of the outer problem is found. The case when the solution becomes mathematically exact is emphasized. An illustrative example is given.
