On beginning of chemical fibres’ manufacturing in Poland

Abstract
The article discusses the atmosphere of the scientific and political and economic conditions in the second half of the nineteenth century, which favored the making of chemical fiber production tests. It also discusses the reactions and protests of industrial environments, which feared the loss of existing fibers market. In a rather precarious situation of entrepreneurs and financiers from the area of the Polish Kingdom, however, made a risky but socially important decision to start construction of viscose rayon factories in the area. The Second World War and its political results of the changed economic situation of the Polish, who was not able to make up for wartime losses and to better match the technical level of developed European countries. Currently, the production of fibers occupies a marginal position in the economy of our country.
